TRForward - Thief River Falls, MN

TRForward is an ad-hoc community stewards group existing to promote the area. They strive to reinforce our collective decision to reside in this region - to work here, to play here, to raise our families here.

This group, through active community involvement and interaction, has identify a collective vision for the area. This vision, which is really a reflection of our collective assets and values, will allow this region to own an identity.

The Destiny Drivers

With our destiny as our foundation and with collective community input guiding us, we have announced the following "Destiny Drivers" as goals to lead us.

Livable Community

1. Thief River Falls will complete a downtown redevelopment plan in 2010, which will include a new vision for downtown offering opportunities for retail, residential, entertainment, and/or office space

2. Thief River Falls will have a vibrant community pool by 2014

3. By 2012, existing non-motorized recreational trails will be expanded by 14 miles, connecting with area communities

4. By Labor Day 2010, there will be a single, comprehensive source of information on all available community events/activities.

5. Thief River Falls will have a sustainable, indoor recreation center by 2017

Economic Opportunity

6. Thief River Falls airport will have an expanded runway, improved facilities, and a new hangar by 2014

7. The region will have an airport authority in place by 2010

8. The airport area will be designated a tax-free zone by 2012

9. Thief River Falls will have a community group that will participate in planning for the growth of NCTC by 2011

Social Inclusion/Working Together

10. Thief River Falls will have a collaborative leadership roundtable initiative to improve and enhance communication between government, civic, and business groups by 2011

11. Thief River Falls will have a successful Day at the Capital event annually beginning in 2011

12. By 2011, Thief River Falls will have a community event/activity coordinating board to guide the development of community activities for all ages.
